bag some time where I have not, to discuss a "news" I've read in the newspaper.
Traditionally when two fellow members did not know what to talk about, talked about the time "A week ago hot, right sir." Perhaps alarmed by the news summer drought, or for some other reason, the media has become fashionable to a new talking point: climate change.
Virtually any catastrophic event is caused by climate change, from a typhoon, monsoon rains ... I have come to see even earthquakes! This is not to say that there is climate change, on the contrary, it is real and even part of the dynamics of the planet. Climate change leads since time immemorial, it is not a static thing, there is no balance to be permanent. And of course there is global warming, among other things have emerged from a period of cooling temperatures (who predicted an ice age) only 30 years ago. And we will not discuss whether climate change is responsible or not human beings (some yes, of course, but it would be very presumptuous on our part to attribute all the credit).
But yet every day we read news like this:
"Earth warns us ... and do nothing"
entire article is summarized in two points: first of all disasters it's because of climate change, and that scientists are clear.
Far from reality, if you read with a critical mind, you will see that they always seem to talk about "heavy snowfall in the last X years", "do not remember rain like this since XXXX." The Weather is maximum and minimum, and these are periodic.
is much more difficult to really predict what the consequences of global warming, we do not know exactly what happened before the existence of humans. In fact, the indiscriminate emission of greenhouse gases came from the industrial revolution, does something like 200 years. Meanwhile, the first reliable meteorological records do not usually have more than 100 years, and if it comes to satellites, which give us global weather information, these records are much more recent (the space adventure is something like 50 years). That is, we lack perspective.
Last summer was a year especially prone to hurricanes, all the blame for the greenhouse effect. But I do not remember the media is that in the 30's there was a period in which the very worst Hurricane Katrina. Or another example, surely, between August and September we will get heavy rains, and probably will blame the greenhouse effect. But the cold drop is very characteristic of the Mediterranean in particular on those dates. In addition, there may be more damage, but that takes years to build indiscriminately where there should be: dry river beds that serve as drainage for rainfall. But the media is much easier to blame everyone and not the poor homeowner to build where they should not.
So have a little common sense and not get carried away by the demagoguery climate. Since the effects of climate change will be not so catastrophic and so immediate. And I hate to say the same speech that Mr. Anton Uriarte, a fellow Hispaciencia hard supporter of a ecoescepticismo of'm not participating. But when he is right is right.
